You might not like the idea of a suspension remote on your handlebars, but the new Genius ST trail bike will change that. With its Fox Float X and on-board Ramp Adjust control, this bike is designed to make sure you get down the mountain in a hurry. The SCOTT Genius ST 910 is the bike at the top level when climbing mountains, and when ripping down.
The base of the SCOTT Genius is its Integrated Suspension Technology or a fancy name for hiding its rear suspension inside of the frame. You read that right: the shock is INSIDE the frame. To make it work, SCOTT has a built-in sag indicator for every Genius, found on the non-drive side of the bike’s rocker link. SCOTT says it gives the frame a lower center of gravity. Importantly, however, mounting the shock lower means the frame is stiffer around the bottom bracket without adding any extra weight.
Want to access the shock? That is found through a downtube door that is available at a push of a button, also doubling as durable bottom bracket protection.
The Genius ST utilizes a Fox Float X shock. Rather than using SCOTT’s typical TwinLoc suspension remote controlling both fork and shock, the Genius ST features a lever that adjusts just how progressive or linear the shock is. Keep the shock in the ‘Descend’ mode if you’re looking for a plush rear end for keeping your tire glued to the ground. Put the shock in the middle ‘Ramp Control’ setting if you’re riding flow trails with lots of compressions, berms, and drops. Call it similar to adding or removing a volume spacer with the flip of a switch.
